Oscars on Sunday! Eh.
Not gonna bother. First time in I don't even know how long I'm going to skip it. I've been avoiding Chris Rock for the last fifteen years, and there's no reason why Sunday night should be any different. He's unfunny and annoying even when he's not pleading for attention; when he's all in your face, trying to get you to laugh, he's insufferable. He never watches the Oscars, he says. Uh...okay. Whatever. That really changed my viewing habits. Couldn't sleep at night if I wasn't sure how you felt about meaningless award shows. Thank you so much. It's not even the "only gay men watch" part that was so stupid; if he objects to the fashion show/popularity contest aspects of the thing, why host it? Was he making a statement about the superficiality and shallowness of Hollywood? Was he objecting to racism? So, fine. Don't do it, then. If not, what is he babbling about? Just shut up and do your job. Here's a tip: acting like an asshole about getting hired and making a boatload of money doesn't make anyone like you. It doesn't give you "cred", it doesn't make you funny, and I'm pretty sure it's not going to get you invited back. It just makes you look like a whore who's short on cash. Yeah, the guy asked the question. A simple "no" would have sufficed. Loser. And Clint Eastwood is up for a best actor award. This is so clearly a "he's-115-years-old-we-owe-him-something" consolation prize. I didn't see Sideways and even I know that Paul Giamatti got shafted. I guess they figured they needed one old geezer in the category. At least Jack Nicholson wasn't nominated. And whywhyWHY wasn't Eternal Sunshine nominated? What, were all the funny hair colors too confusing? Comments
You're not alone. I stopped watching the Oscars several years ago, to me it's just a big predictable farce, as are most award shows. I don't find Chris Rock to be very entertaining either, but it could have been much worse, they could have had Dave Chapelle host the show instead ;) Post a comment
