For some reason unbeknownst to me, Ryan gets advance copies of Hawaiian music CD's straight from the record company. One day, we got this in the mail. As I opened it, I wondered what kind of hackneyed, ill-advised cover tunes we'd be treated to (turns out there's one). Then I noticed the band name, and I thought to myself, "damn, local bands can't even come up with original names": Ten Feet. Three Plus. Times Five. As my eyes rolled into the back of my skull, I looked at the picture of the band on the front and realized the man in the middle is my neighbor. He was previously known to us as Volvo Man, because he drives a Volvo. But now we know his name is Tosh.. Speaking of ill-advised local covers, a cover of "Love of a Lifetime" by Firehouse is now on heavy rotation on the radio. Dude, that's wasn't a good song in the first place. I like the original because it's cheesy. Singing it on top of a 'ukulele sends it right past cheesy into bad.. |
