Honestly, I love being here, but it will be so nice to be back to the routine. It also feels really strange, to be here in the place I grew up, feeling like I came from somewhere else. I've been looking at my parents' tourist books to remind me of our life.

Gosh, I sound like I've been away for months.

The plastic pool that mom bought sprung a big leak, so now she's hunting for one of those regular, un-inflatable models.

K refuses to be held any more. She has to hold a hand and walk, no matter where she is. and she climbs on to everything. This vacation has been spent just trying to keep up with her! She hasn't changed much in the grand scheme of things, but it seems like she's so different.

We go to the Springs tomorrow.

This long-distance-married gig is harder than I thought it would be!

K may be entering her "terrible twos" a little ahead of schedule. She's starting to throw tantrums if she can't have what she wants; like if we're in a store, she wants to walk, but we have to pick her up before we get to the parking lot, so she'll scream and squirm.

I know it'll get much, much worse, but it's kind of embarassing.

Her latest thing is "pushing" shopping carts. She'll get in front of you while you're pushing and hang on so she can "push", too. But it's hard to get her off.

I'm feeling a lot better today. I had a really bad headache and an upset stomach yesterday so we didn't make it to Silver Springs after all. Maybe Sunday. Or Monday.

There isn't anything interesting going on per se, but it just feels so weird to be here, in so many ways. Every other time that I've visited, I've still been the child, but now I have my own little one, so the playing field is level. They're still my parents, but I see them differently now.

Besides the sudden personality changes, K's also sprouting new teeth. She's been not exactly cranky; just kind of restless and constantly chewing on her hands.

We went to Daytona today. Mom got to ride in the race car. She loved it--she went on and on about it. We left really early. K fussed as I dressed her and put her shoes on, but she stopped when we got going and it looked as if she was going to be okay with it until we got halfway there. We had to stop and let her out and walk her around. She slept on the way back and for another two hours after lunch.

Mom swears K says "pool" and "bubble" whenever she walks past the back window. She definitely says "up" whenever she's about to climb something, which is always. She loves her pool. I think she'll get a lot of mileage out of the inflatable one I'm bringing back with me.

She sleeps so much better in her own bed.

Don't know what we're up to tomorrow. Mom says she's making pot roast, which is a bit of a project, so maybe nothing special. Of course, it's race day, so she has to do that.
